“Do any of you folks remember the 2005 Wes Craven film, “Feast”, starring Henry Rollins? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvuPMHA7tBc Remember the character who played the bar owner, Bossman? NAME: BOSSMAN VIBE: MEAN, STONED, AND HORNY LIFE EXPECTANCY: REGULAR OR EXTRA CRISPY… (?) “A solitary glimpse of the towering, foreboding figure that is Shaving Susie front man, Chris Cook, is proof beyond any damned doubt that Bossman and Chris Cook are indeed the very same damned person!” I first became aware of the Alvin-based (extra crispy) 5-piece, Shaving Susie, when their name first appeared on a flyer for the deadhorse DVD release party at The Engine Room this past year. Their appearance at this function was something of a special treat for me, as I’ve been kinda itchin’ to see ‘em for a spell. Go ahead! Grace your ears with the raucous, Southern-styled jubilee, “Hillbilly Moonshine”...... To view the entire night click on the link below.......... ”

“ SHAVING SUSIE – Razor Burn (2010) One of the latest of Houston’s bands to create a stir on the local scene in the past year is Shaving Susie. With the 2010 release of Razor Burn, it’s easy to see why. With some of the thickest-sounding guitars I’ve heard in a while, these boys kick it with that classic down-home metal grind. Ever hear a guitar tuned down so low you couldn’t tell how low it was tuned cuz all it sounds like is mud? A lot of bands try utilizing the lower tunings such as drop C and lower, but few have pulled it off as cleanly as this album does. Highly structured chord progressions and well written lyrics sung with an “up yours” attitude keep the listener from losing interest on songs like “Night Is Falling” and “Day Of Healing.” And, “Heavy” is about the best name you could use to describe this second track. Listening to it makes me feel like Atlas hold”
